VF Tuner Supercharger Install

Let’s start with the supercharger…. yes, on a GX460. The GX460 runs a naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 (the Toyota 1UR-FE), and supercharger kits for this platform are rare.
VF Tuner is one of the few companies making a bolt-on solution for the GX460, and the result is a wild increase in power on a motor that was already strong to begin with. For a rig this capable, the extra power is the icing on the cake.
If you’re looking for a supercharger install shop in Colorado, we’ve got the experience to do it right.
74Weld Portal Axle Install

We install Portals on almost a weekly basis here at the shop. Nothing new for us, but on a GX460!! That’s pretty rad.
74Weld portals + 37″ MTs on a GX460 is an absolute win for this chassis. Most of the portal projects we see go on the Tacoma and 4Runner platform. Plenty of labor goes into it, but where the additional labor comes in is on the full firewall tubbing, trimming, cab mount relocate, and cam tab gussets. We also installed a set of Apex tie rods to support the geometry changes.
Portals add roughly 4″ of lift through the axle itself, and allow the GX to run a much larger tire without the clearance compromises of a traditional lift. The supporting fab and clearancing is what takes this to another level.
PowerBrake Big Brake Kit

Bigger tires and portals mean more unsprung weight.
The PowerBrake X-Line rotor and pad kit with the 74Weld bracket brings the stopping power up to match the rest of the build. Red calipers, slotted rotors, and a setup that can actually handle what this rig is capable of.
Rear Coil Springs

Dobinson 2.5″ rear coil springs round out the suspension setup in the rear, leveling the stance and giving the rear end the travel and support it needs under a loaded overland rig. Same springs we run on 4th and 5th gen 4Runners and FJ Cruisers; proven fitment on the GX platform.
Wheels & Tires

Method 703 Bronze in 17×8.5 with a +35 offset on a 6×5.5 bolt pattern, wrapped in Milestar Patagonia M/T 02s in 37×12.50R17. Five wheels, five tires, five TPMS sensors.
The bronze finish on the Methods ties directly into the roof tent hardware and badge accents on the build. Clean, intentional, and aggressive enough to match everything else going on with this rig.
All mounted and balanced in-house here in Wheatridge, Colorado. We serve customers from around the North Denver Metro area as the leading off-road shop in the state. Stop by sometime, check out the shop, and say what’s up.
Tubbing, Trimming & Supporting Fabrication

Sixteen hours of firewall tubbing plus three hours of trimming to clear the portals and 37s.
On top of that: KPO cam tab gussets, a DRT Fab cab mount relocate, and Apex outer tie rods to dial in the steering geometry.
For this type of tire clearancing and more custom fabrication services, give us a call anytime. We service Toyota/Lexus Trucks along with other custom crawler projects as well; both SAS and IFS.
Alignment

Full 4×4 alignment after the portal install, cam tab adjustment, and tie rod swap. Non-negotiable on a build like this. Get it aligned or wear through tires fast.
MORRFlate Tire Inflation System

TenSix PSI Pro Gen2 compressor paired with the Quad+ 4-tire hose kit. Air down all four tires at once on the trail, air back up fast before hitting the road. On a rig running 37s on portals, airing down isn’t optional; it’s part of the setup.
Overland Build Overview

On top of everything mechanical, Trey’s GX is fully kitted out for wheeling, camping, and general overland use.
Victory 4×4 front bumper with a Warn winch, KC HiLiTES 6-bar up top, sliders, snorkel, and a Roof Nest rooftop tent with gold hardware that matches the Method 703 Bronze wheels. The whole build has a functional setup that starts from the ground up.
