Tacoma Baja Designs Actuator

Baja Designs Reflex Actuator Install on 2017 Toyota Tacoma with sPOD BantamX

This 2017 Toyota Tacoma came through our shop in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, for a full lighting control upgrade centered around the Baja Designs Reflex Actuator system.

The goal for this build was to take an already built lighting setup and make it fully adjustable, easier to control, and cleaner from a wiring standpoint. Everything was tied into an sPOD BantamX system, with actuator controlled LP6 lights for on demand beam positioning.

Baja Designs Reflex Actuator

Baja Designs Reflex Actuator – Adjustable Light Positioning

The highlight of this build is the Baja Designs Reflex actuator system installed on a pair of LP6 lights. This system allows the driver to physically adjust the angle of the lights using a switch inside the cab.

Instead of being locked into a fixed beam position, the lights can now be aimed forward for distance or dropped down for better foreground visibility, depending on terrain and driving conditions.

  • Adjust light output direction on the fly
  • Improve visibility for high speed and low speed driving
  • No need to manually reposition lights
  • Fully integrated into in cab switching

This is one of the more functional lighting upgrades available right now, especially for trucks that see a mix of highway and off road use.

sPOD BantamX

sPOD BantamX Power Management System

To control everything, we installed an sPOD BantamX system with a dedicated Tacoma mounting panel and bracket. This allows all lighting and accessories to be managed from a single, clean interface inside the cab.

All existing lights were reworked and routed through the sPOD system for consistent control and clean wiring.

  • LP6 lights wired to sPOD
  • Front bumper Squadron pods integrated
  • Ditch lights, side lights, and rear lights routed into system
  • Clean, centralized switching inside the cab

12V Wiring & Electrical Service

Custom Wiring & Clean Integration

This build required custom wiring to integrate the Reflex actuator system with the sPOD while maintaining reliability and serviceability.

We finalized wiring for the actuator system, completed sPOD integration, and cleaned up routing under the hood to ensure everything is protected and easy to service later.

Functional Lighting Setup

Functional Lighting Setup

This Tacoma is now running a fully integrated lighting system with multiple forward and auxiliary light sources, all controlled through one interface and enhanced with adjustable beam positioning.

Between the LP6 lights with actuator control and the additional front lighting, this setup gives the driver the ability to adapt lighting output based on speed, terrain, and conditions.

Pretty Rad Tacoma Build

This build is a good example of taking an existing lighting setup and making it more functional. Instead of just adding more lights, the focus here was control, adjustability, and clean integration.
