Dakota’s 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road: 74Weld Portals, Fox 3.2 Live Valve + Full Build

This 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road came in for the full treatment!! Not one expense spared on this new-gen taco.

Where do we start?

Portals, Fox Live Valve suspension, Mountain Yotas front and rear bumpers, 40s on beadlocks, twin ARB compressor, e-locker, full lighting setup, and enough overland gear to disappear into the Colorado mountains for a month.

This has to be one of the most complete 4th gen Tacoma builds we’ve put together at Mountain Yotas.

74Weld Portal Axles

We installed a full 74Weld portal axle kit on Dakota’s 4th gen Tacoma, complete with OMF one-piece bead lock spacers and black 3/8″ hardware. On a 4th gen Tacoma platform, this is one of the most capable upgrades you can make.

If you’re looking for a portal axle install shop in Colorado, Mountain Yotas is by far the leader in portal installs and complete builds done right the first time.

Fox 3.2 Live Valve Shocks

We installed the Fox 3.2 Live Valve complete suspension kit built specifically for the 2024+ Tacoma.

The Live Valve system actively adjusts damping in real time based on driving conditions; no manual switching between comfort and off-road modes. Supporting the Fox kit, we installed 74Weld billet front upper control arms, 74Weld adjustable rear upper and lower control arms, Dobinson 1.25″ coil springs, and Timbren active rear bump stops.

The wiring harness runs under the front seats and center console, and we spent 4 hours on shock tuning after the install to dial everything in.

This truck drives AMAZING on and off-road.

Stage 1 Cobb Tune

We installed the Cobb Stage 1 Power Package specifically for the 4th gen Tacoma hybrid drivetrain.

A proper tune on the new iForce Max is one of the best supporting mods you can do: more power, better throttle response, and a calibration designed for a truck with extra weight.

Wheels & Tires

We mounted a set of the new 74Weld beadlock wheels in 17×8.5 +50 offset, powder-coated gunmetal with black rings, wrapped in Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT 40×13.50r17s. OMF bead lock spacers and black 3/8″ hardware throughout. To fit the 40s, we performed a cab mount chop and clearancing. All four wheels mounted and balanced in house.

Mountain Yotas Front Bumper + Lighting

We installed the Mountain Yotas front bumper, powder coated and fitted with a full lighting and recovery setup.

We mounted a Warn Zeon 10-S winch with a Factor 55 Flatlink in grey, a 30″ Baja Designs S8 straight light bar in amber driving/combo, a pair of Baja Designs Squadron SAE LED auxiliary pods in amber, and a pair of Baja Designs S2 Pro LED pods in amber/driving combo.

Rough Country sport fender flares were added to accommodate the wider stance. Full wiring was handled in-house as part of the switch system install.

Mountain Yotas Rear Bumper

We installed our Mountain Yotas rear bumper, powder-coated to match the front, and fitted it with a pair of Baja Designs Squadron Pro LED auxiliary light pods in white/work scene.

Mountain Yotas Hybrid Power Relocate + Bantam X Switch System

We installed the Mountain Yotas hybrid power relocate kit paired with the Baja Designs HD/BantamX power management system.

The switch system controls 8 outputs: bumper light bar, bumper SAE pods, bumper S2s, roof rack light bar, red body lights, white body lights, rock lights, and the front e-locker.

OEM aux switches handle Starlink, DRL/back lights on the light bars, and the onboard air compressor.

Roof rack actuators run on their own rocker switch.

RCI Skid Plates + Rock Sliders

We installed a full RCI skid plate package: engine skid plate in steel/black powder coat, hybrid transmission skid plate, and hybrid transfer case skid plate.

We also installed RCI rock sliders in black with top tread and a 5-degree angle, fitted for the 2024+ Tacoma short bed.

Leitner Designs ACS Forged Bed Rack

We installed the Leitner Designs ACS Forged bed rack along with a GearPOD Dual and four universal mounting plates.

The ACS Forged is one of the cleanest bed rack systems available for the new Tacoma platform; modular, strong, and low-profile enough to keep the truck looking intentional rather than cluttered.

Sherpa Rainier Roof Rack + Lighting

We installed the Sherpa Rainier half-height roof rack for the 4th gen Tacoma and then installed a full lighting and connectivity setup.

We mounted a 40″ Baja Designs S8 straight LED light bar in clear/driving combo with a Sherpa light bar mount and Baja Designs Reflex double actuator kit, a set of Baja Designs LED rock lights, and a Starlink Mini with Sherpa flush mounts.

The actuator wiring runs through the cab as part of the switch system.

While we’re talking about wiring, we also installed the ARB brushless twin using a Mountain Yotas custom ARB mount. The setup includes an ARB remote hose coupling mount kit, ARB pump up kit, and a MORRFlate Quad+ 4-tire hose kit. Airing down 40s and airing back up fast. It’s all tied into the factory AUX switches on the Tacoma.

Eaton Front E-Locker

We installed an Eaton front e-locker. The locker is wired into the Bantam X system for easy cab-accessible engagement.

On 40s with portals and an ARB onboard compressor, a front locker rounds out the entire package that covers just about any trail you can find in Colorado.

AlphaRex NOVA Headlights + Taillights

We installed AlphaRex NOVA-Series LED projector headlights in Alpha Black and NOVA-Series Prismatic LED taillights in Alpha Black.

DRLs were set to amber to match the bumper lighting.

Overland Accessories

We mounted a pair of MaxTrax Xtreme recovery boards in stealth black with MK II mounting pin sets on the Leitner bed rack. We also mounted two Rotopax 2-gallon Gen 2 gasoline cans with a LOX pack mount and extension link.

Rock Lights

No photos of the rock lights on at night, so here is another shot of the front bumper. Amazing.

We wired in 20 Baja Designs LED rock lights total… 10 red and 10 white!! Insane.

We also mounted the Sherpa handle light brackets throughout the build. Red and white run on separate switches through the Bantam X system.

This build is an absolute unit!!

Helivue Auxiliary Fuel Tank

We installed a Helivue New Gen auxiliary fuel tank, adding more range for extended overland trips where fuel stops aren’t guaranteed.

The build just gets better and better.
